Dr Edelstein was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee completing a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976.
Dr. Edelstein also
attended the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, where he studied folk
guitar, prior to his enrollment in Medical School.
He attended the
University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School through 1981. He interned
at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois and completed a residency
in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
He came to Arizona
in 1985 as a fellow in ophthalmic plastic surgery at the University
of Arizona. He retains a faculty position at the University of Arizona
Department of Ophthalmology as a Clinical Lecturer.
He opened his private
practice in Mesa, Arizona (1987). He is the current Arizona Councilor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Health Policy Committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, ASOPRS advisor to the AMA's Relative Update Committee, a former president of the Arizona Ophthalmological
Society (2001-2003) and is a member of the Southwest Craniofacial team.
He is one of the team physicians for the Phoenix Coyotes NHL Hockey
team.
